Workin' On My Fitness

Alright guys.  In 2010 AND 2011 I set a goal to run in a race.  And I didn't meet that goal either year.  In my defense, I was doing really awesome training for my first marathon throughout the spring and summer of 2010, but pregnancy threw a wrench in those plans.

But I think I'm ready to get back on track and run in a race in 2012 FOR REAL.

I've got my sights set on the Fifth Third River Bank Run 25k (that's 15.5 miles).  Go big or go home!  There's also a 10k and and 5k if any readers are interested in those distances.

I wouldn't have considered running such a distance until I looked at the training plan on their website.  I think it's pretty darn manageable.  Here's what will be my biggest hurddle: finding the time.

As of right now, the ONLY time that I can get a run in on week days is in the morning after I feed Baby C but before I go to work- that's a pretty small window of time, but I THINK I might be able to pull it off.  It's going to take a lot of self-discipline to drag my butt out of bed every morning though.  If we purchase a treadmill it would open up some more possibilities and then I also wouldn't have to run outside through the winter, but I did some research on new treadmills and some searching around on Craigslist and HOLY MACKEREL TREADMILLS ARE EXPENSIVE!  Good grief!

But according to Google Analytics a fair number of you stopping by my little blog here are from the Grand Rapids area, so if any of you happen to want to get rid of a treadmill or know someone who does, hook me up!  I would appreciate it more than you can possibly imagine!

Also for your Grand Rapidians (or anyone else wanting to travel to GR for the race), if any of you want to join in training for the 25k, let me know!  We can be virtual running buddies :)

I've added a tab at the top of my page dedicated to River Bank training - I'm not 100% sure what will be on that tab, but I'll keep you updated!
