1 Year

I can't believe it. 1 year ago, I woke up, considered going in to work despite being two days past my due date, and then texted my boss and said something along the lines of, "no baby update yet, but maybe later today. I'm going to officially begin my maternity leave!"
I then sat in our upstairs living room and calmly declared to my husband, parents, sister, and grandma: "I think I'm going to have a baby today"

And at 11:42 pm that night I did just that.

This year has flown by with unimaginable speed. My little 8 lb, 3 oz baby boy has grown to be a healthy 25 lb 1-year old who has the best laughs and giggles in the whole world and who has been an amazingly good eater, sleeper, and an all-around happy little dude.

I've made it through a whole year of breast feeding and while I never planned to continue past a year, I also don't see myself abruptly stopping now that we've actually arrived here at the 1-year mark. We'll just see how thing go!

We also went though the whole year without cracking open a single jar of baby food. Baby led weaning has worked great for us and from the looks of Baby C's weight gain, it seems to be working well for him too!

In the last year I've lost all of my pregnancy weight and then some. I'm actually about 8 lbs less than I was pre-pregnancy. I have no doubt that much of that weight loss can be attributed to breast feeding, but getting back into the running mode has definitely helped as well.

Baby C still isn't crawling, but he's getting closer and closer. He's figured out how to get just about wherever he wants to go just by rolling, so he's been stubborn to learn the whole crawling thing. He loves standing up between mommy or daddy's legs and looking up at us and giggling. He hasn't tried taking any steps yet, but I'm sure that will come soon enough!

For his birthday yesterday I took the day off (Hubby G had the day of too!) and we took C to the zoo. I'll post lots of fun pictures soon :)

We're having his birthday party next weekend and I can't wait!
